Hip Hop Hope is a program created by the Power of Hope that brings together a diverse group of youth and adult mentors to create a Hip Hop CD. This year's album was created by approximately 22 youth mentored by 25 teaching artists and community workers during the 5-day camp at the Broadway Youth Resource Centre in Vancouver BC. With the use of portable digital studios, youth and mentors made beats, songs and raps that the youth had written on site, this album was created. Some of the youth had prior experience with Hip Hop, and some had none - at Hip Hop Hope, everyone is welcome. Hip Hop Hope provides an enriching and empowering learning community for youth to express themselves. These songs portray the young people's experiences, views of the world, hopes, dreams, and sometimes, simply their desire to have a good time. We hope that you enjoy listening to Hip Hop Hope 2009 and are inspired by the energy, honesty and creativity of our youth.
