Hip Hope Hope is a program created by the Power of Hope that brings together a diverse group of youth and adult mentors to create a hip hop CD. This year's album was created by approximately 30 youth mentored by 22 teaching artists and musicians, during a 5-day residential camp in White Rock BC. Using portable digital studios, youth recorded beats, songs, raps and poems that they created either during the Hip Hop Hope camp or that they showed up with, all ready to go. Some of the youth had lots of prior experience with hip hop and some had none - at Hip Hop Hope everyone is welcome. Hip Hop Hope provides an enriching and empowering learning community for youth to express themselves. These songs portray the young people's experiences, views of the world, hopes, dreams, and sometimes, simply their desire to have a good time. We hope that you enjoy listening to Hip Hope Hope 2008 and are inspired by the energy, honesty and creativity of our youth.
